The High Falls Dollar General is open again after a two-day shutdown to clean up the place, including an apparent rat problem.

The chain at 15 Towaliga River Drive closed its doors last Wednesday and Thursday while a small army of EcoLab employees in HazMat suits cleaned up the store. Several locals told the Reporter that the store had developed a foul odor and one resident shared a photo of a large rat outside the store. Dollar General has four stores in Monroe County. One local told the Reporter that the store smells much better now. “It was nasty,” she said.
