A Michigan-based company has bought 91 acres in the IDI Logistics Park off I-75 at Rumble Road for $3.9 million with plans to build a refrigerated warehouse there.
Lineage Ga Forsyth LLC purchased about 90 acres for the project next to the new Five Below warehouse. The transaction was filed in the Monroe County courthouse on Aug. 1 and is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the county.
Lineage is a worldwide refrigerated logistics company with warehouses already all along I-75 including in Macon, Perry, McDonough, Unadilla and Cordele.
The Monroe County Development Authority has been negotiating with Lineage, which it was calling Project X, on a property tax discount to entice the company to bring jobs here. The authority voted on Tuesday to authorize chairman Tom Baugh to handle those negotiations. Authority members said they aren’t sure when Lineage will begin construction but said with almost $4 million invested, they are likely to begin soon.
