The Eclectic Jazz Band and the Liberty Singers Chorale are joining forces to present “A Salute to America” concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28 at The Rose Theater. Musical treats associated with freedom and liberty will highlight the performance. Aside from the inspiring music, two beautifully produced videos will be shown—’A Salute to Our Armed Forces’ and ‘Blades of Grass and Pure White Stone’. Both videos will be accompanied by a choral presentation from the Liberty Singers.
The band will present a range of music that includes several marches, some war-era hit tunes and a few instrumental classics that are associated with freedom. The music is guaranteed to raise your spirits like our Red, White and Blue flag.
Bill Veal, music coordinator for the Eclectic Jazz, said, “With all the political campaigning that has taken place in the past months and the rhetoric about America, the Eclectic Jazz wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate America and our freedom and liberty and do it through music that almost everyone knows and loves.”
“My husband, Keith, served in the United States Air Force and our two sons, Keith and Cale, served in the United States Marines,” commented Kelli Gilstrap choral director for the Liberty Singers. “As the wife and mother in a military family, you have a huge appreciation of the cost of freedom. My guys came home safe and sound, but a lot of families are not as fortunate. We plan to use our voices to celebrate freedom. I hope you will join us.”
