St. Luke A.M.E. has homecoming & revival

St. Luke A.M.E., Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. Rev. C.W. Dumas Sr. will be the messenger. Dinner will be served immediately afterward. Prayer night will be Monday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Revival will begin on Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 6-9 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Rev. D. L. Driver of Shiloh Baptist Church in Barnesville will be the revivalist.

St. Peter the Rock Catholic has RCIA classes

St. Peter the Rock Catholic Church, 3594 Barnesville Highway, The Rock (Thomaston) invites everyone to masses and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation For Adults) classes. An inquiry into the Catholic faith and RCIA program will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. (after 6:30 p.m. mass) for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith. Coach Bob Hoffman to speak at Bethany Baptist

Bethany Baptist Church Men’s Brotherhood, 365 Pea Ridge Rd, Bolingbroke, and the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt, will have a special program on Thursday, Sept. 8. They invite men and high-school age young men to dinner and to hear Coach Bob Hoffman, men’s basketball coach at Mercer University and an inspirational and motivational speaker. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall prior to his speaking.

Mt. Zion UMC has yard sale

 Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Hwy. South 41, Smarr will hold its annual yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at its pavilion. The yard sale is a fundraiser for service team projects. Come for fabulous finds and treasures galore.

Maynard Baptist honors Public Safety personnel

Maynard Baptist Church, 1195 Juliette Road, Forsyth invites all public safety organizations serving Monroe County and their families for a Family Fun Day to honor their bravery and dedication to the citizens of Monroe County on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Church grounds. ENCOUNTER Area-Wide Revival

Churches of Centennial Baptist Association and the Upson County Ministerial Association are joining together for a series of revival meetings at the Rock Ranch Sept. 12-15. What began as a burden to see people come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord has become a movement. The hope is that people will have more than a religious experience and ENCOUNTER Jesus in a life-changing way; that they will walk away with purpose and hope and eternal life. Beginning at 7 p.m. each night, worship will be led by a team of music ministers from churches followed by a message from Evangelist Jon Reed. Arrive early to allow time for parking and taking the shuttle to Truett’s Barn. Childcare will be provided for ages 5 and under. The Rock Ranch will be selling concessions prior to each service. Wrights Grove Baptist holds golf tournament

Wrights Grove Baptist Church of Forsyth will sponsor an 18-hole scramble golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Forsyth Golf Course, 400 Country Club Drive. Tee time is 9 a.m. There will be cash prizes, and lunch and refreshments will be served. Hole Sponsorship is $100; entry fee is $65 per golfer (4 Person Team). Food Bank distribution will be at Christ UMC

Christ United Methodist Church and other local church members, in conjunction with Circle of Care, will distribute food packages provided by the Macon Food Bank on Wed., Sept. 21. Volunteers to help unload the truck and/or assemble and distribute food are needed at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist, 417 North Frontage Road (next to the Farm Bureau). Yard Sale to benefit Paran Baptist Cemetery

There will be a yard sale to benefit the Paran Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon at Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Frontage Road, Forsyth. Come shop for furniture (including dressers and beds), kids’ clothes, quilts, home decor and more. There will be a bounce house for the children, too. The Paran Baptist Church Cemetery on Hwy. 42 North in Forsyth was established in 1855 and funds are needed for its upkeep and preservation. Donations for the yard sale are welcomed. Little Rogers C.M.E. Male Choir has 23rd anniversary

New Pine Grove Baptist has homecoming

Wrights Grove Baptist Church, 3056 Old Atlanta Hwy; Forsyth invites everyone to its Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 25 beginning at 10 a.m. with Baptism followed by the worship service 11 a.m.  Pastor Henry D. Leonard, Sr. will deliver the Word of God for this celebration. A three night revival will follow Tuesday, Sept. 27 - Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. nightly.

Bishop Keith Hodges, pastor of Gathering of Champions International Cathedral of Marietta, will be the revivalist.


Kingdom Builders will help local homeowners

Homeowners who wish assistance with repairs may pick up a Kingdom Builder application at Circle of Care or participating churches in Monroe County. Members of the community may join the effort by volunteering and/or donating for materials and tools. Applications will be accepted during August. Work will be done in October during Fall school break.
