How did it end? Near High Falls Road, Sgt. Christopher Sherrell tried a P.LT maneuver but Malcom sped up and drove out of the way. At mile marker 197, Malcom nearly struck a pedestrian and a broke down red Mercedes in the right emergency lane. Just before Hwy. 36 Sherrell performed another P.I.T maneuver, the Volkswagen was disabled, and Malcom then exited the vehicle and tried to run. He was soon taken to the ground and handcuffed.

While Thompson was in his car typing in Malcom’s information, Malcom suddenly drove away, ran the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp and made a left turn onto North Lee Street and back onto the interstate, leading deputies on the high-speed chase.
