A Floyd Road dog got a surprise on Dec. 4 when he went to bite a man’s leg only to discover it was a prosthetic.

According to the sheriff’s report, at about 11:42 a.m., Ricky Keith Smith told Monroe County Dep. Larry Sullivan that a small brown and white dog bit his prosthetic left leg while he was walking down his driveway. Smith said the dog belongs to a neighbor, Debra Bennett, who lives on Zellner Road.

However, Sullivan then called Bennett, who said she does have a dog matching the description of Smith’s attacker but said her dog ran away and she has not seen it in about six months.

Sullivan then notified Monroe County code enforcement officer Dep. Jeff Wilson and Monroe County Animal Services about the matter.
