A Forsyth man wanted for hitting a woman over the head with a gun in September was arrested on Monday at Forsyth Gardens Apartments and charged with a host of additional drug charges.

Police have been looking for Brandon Smith, 27, of Forsyth since Sept. 21 when he allegedly struck a mother in the head with a handgun in front of her children at Forsyth Gardens. 

On Monday, Forsyth officer Jeremy Malone attempted to serve warrants on Smith at his apartment and was met by owner Bryanna Smith. Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment and summoned Monroe County drug investigators for a joint operation in what was believed to be a big case. After getting a search warrant, drug investigators along with Forsyth officers found about 11 ounces of marijuana, and approximately $1,171 cash.

Brandon Smith was not found in the apartment but was located shortly after in apartment M7 in Forsyth Gardens. While apprehending Brandon Smith, two other subjects were arrested for active warrants as well. Rodriquez Traylor was arrested for violation of probation and Maquez Davis was arrested for violation of probation.

Bryanna Smith, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce and Brandon Smith was arrested and charged for possession with intent to distribute marijuana in addition to charges from the Sept. 21 incident that included aggravated assault, 3 counts of misdemeanor cruelty to children in the third degree and criminal trespass.
