A Forsyth man injured his neck after running into and killing two cows that straggled onto Hwy. 83 near Stokes Store Road around 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, June 2.

Bobby Eugene Pope, 31, of Jeffery Way, was headed south on Hwy. 83 on Sunday night when the cows crossed in front of him. Pope told deputy Nicholas Ortiz that he tried to stop his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta but was unable to do so before striking the cows dead and likely totaling his vehicle. The impact shattered both front and back windshields and did major damage to the front end.

The cows belonged to Rodney Bostick, said the report.

Pope complained of neck pain but his passenger, William Watson, was not seriously hurt.
