A High Falls man died after a scuffle with Monroe County deputies while being arrested for battery on Monday night.
The Monroe County sheriff's office says that deputies went to Pioneer Trail about a domestic dispute around 7:55 p.m.
They arrested Joshua Marshall there for family violence-battery and took him to the Monroe County Jail. 
During the booking process at the Monroe County Jail, an altercation occurred between Marshall and Jail employees. During the altercation, Marshall became unresponsive and medical aid was quickly started. Monroe County EMS was called to assist and he was immediately taken to  Monroe County Hospital where Marshall was pronounced dead. 
 
Per the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Policy, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called to the scene to investigate. The sheriff's office directed further questions regarding the investigation to the GBI.
