Former Mary Persons band director Eric Thompson said the world lost a great musician, beautiful person, and beautiful soul when Forsyth’s Mikayla Singletary died in an auto accident last Wednesday.
“I am so incredibly heartbroken that you are no longer with us, but am grateful for the memories and positive impact that you made on others,” Thompson wrote on his Facebook page. “I am confident that I will see you again.”
Thompson was band director when Singletary was at MP.
The 22-year-old was killed in a car wreck on Wednesday night. Mikayla Shay Singletary, of Hwy. 42, Forsyth, was heading north on Hwy. 42 in a KIA Forte when she left the road, went airborne and struck a tree, breaking the tree in half. The accident happened around 10:10 p.m. Singletary’s vehicle burst into flames upon impact and she died at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation. See her obituary on page 6A.
