A Forsyth man was killed in a one-car wreck on Sutton Road on Sunday two days after he had been in another wreck on Hwy. 42.
Dexter Leach, 43, of Forsyth died at the scene after his Lincoln SUV left Sutton Road and struck a bank near Hwy. 42 around 7:41 p.m. on Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office. A truck bed tool box crashed into the back of the truck, killing Leach, according to witnesses.
Two days earlier, the sheriff’s office had investigated another single-car wreck in which Leach was involved. Leach was heading north in 2004 Ford truck on Hwy. 42 near Stokes Store Road when he veered off the road, broke his truck’s axle and landed in a ditch. Leach told Monroe County deputy Judy Mercer that he saw a deer going into the wood line, then back into the road in front of him and he swerved to avoid it. Leach showed signs of pain from that wreck but said his wife was on the way to the scene and refused medical treatment.
The next day, Saturday, Leach did retrieve his tool box from the wrecked truck and put it in a Lincoln SUV. Then on Sunday, Leach wrecked and the tool box struck him from behind, killing him.
