A Forsyth man with a long history of drug arrests now faces murder charges for allegedly killing a man at Union Hill Apartments on Saturday.
Jazma Rashiid Banks, 32, of Forsyth, was arrested by the GBI and charged with killing David Jordan, 41, of Forsyth between two buildings of Union Hill Apartments around 10:59 p.m. on Saturday.
Forsyth Police responded to the 911 call at the apartment complex at 235 Union Hill Drive and found David Jordan had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound. A witness told authorities that David Jordan and Jazma Rashiid Banks had an altercation. During the altercation, Banks shot Jordan, striking him and causing his death, said the GBI.
David Jordan’s body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The GBI was called in to investigate and they arrested Banks.
The Reporter archives show Banks has a history of brushes with the law in Monroe County. He was arrested on May 31, 2010 for disorderly conduct. In January 2012, Banks was indicted for manufacturing/possessing marijuana near a park or housing project. On April 25, 2012, Banks was arrested on child support. On March 24, 2014, Banks was arrested for reckless conduct, transactions in drugs within 1,000 feet of public place and possession of drug related objects. He was indicted in February 2015 for possession of marijuana more than an ounce, illegal substances within 1,000 feet of a housing project, possession of drug related objects and reckless conduct.
Jordan also had several arrests including battery and failure to pay child support in 2014 and failure to pay child support in 2011 as well.
It’s the city of Forsyth’s first murder of 2019. The last murder in Forsyth was when Tonia Herring was killed in August 2018 on Jones Court. Her boyfriend Raymond Chambliss has not yet been tried for the murder.
