Josie Rafferzeder has gift bags ready to tell law enforcement officers they’re appreciated.

Josie Rafferzeder woke up on Thursday morning, July 23 and felt God telling her to do something special for local law enforcement officers. She said, “Yes” and wasted no time turning her intention into action. After calling Forsyth Police Department to ask its number of officers, Josie put together 22 gift bags and took them to the police station.

Each bag included a Gatorade for this hot weather, lifesavers for the local Lifesavers and snacks that said the community is thinking of the officers and appreciates them. She packed the items in blue (of course!) gift bags.

Josie is putting together gift bags for law enforcement personnel at Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, which includes more individuals than the Forsyth force. She also plans to present special gifts to the three law enforcement entities in Lamar County—Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Barnesville Police Department and Milner Police Department. Her father, Jerry Rafferzeder, has worked with the Milner Police Department part time for the last three or four years and volunteers with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

Josie is a 2019 graduate of Mary Persons and is attending Gordon State University, She works at Country Oaks Farm Supply in Barnesville. Her brother, Bryce Rafferzeder, a 2018 graduate of Mary Persons, is serving in the U.S. Army and his upcoming assignment is in South Korea.

Josie is accepting donations to help her make the gift bags as full as possible. Contributions may be sent to her through the Venmo app @josie-rafferzeder.
