napa wreck

A man’s unattended car rammed into Ham’s NAPA Auto Parts on Johnston Street after he rushed inside to buy spray paint on July 27. The man said he knew the shifter was loose but didn’t think anything of it. A woman at her desk claimed that she “heard a loud noise” and “felt the building shake” when it happened. The woman rushed outside and saw the car against the building with its reverse lights on and no driver. The man had left the car running but it’s unclear if the shifter was accidentally left in reverse or if it slid back from park. Officer Kim Barnett told the parties that they could settle the structural damage costs through each other or insurance.
