A Florida couple was hospitalized with minor injuries after their blue truck sustained major damage on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. on I-75 south just north of the split with I-475. Monroe County deputy Peyton Henderson said a GMC driven by Tennessee Westwood, 71, of Missouri, was trying to re-enter traffic from the rest area when it got tangled up with a tractor trailer driven by John Atkinson, 72, of Georgia. That caused them to brake hard and Thomas Cervantes, 67, of Florida ran into the back of the tractor trailer. Cervantes and his wife were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two lanes of I-75 south were blocked as traffic backed up to Rumble Road.
