Two people were hospitalized in a head-on wreck on Hwy. 87 the night of Tuesday, June 11.
Billy Hester, 44, of Macon, was headed south in his 2002 Yukon Denali on Hwy. 87 just south of Hwy. 18 when he veered off the road because, he said, the pavement dropped. Hester told Monroe County deputy Judy Mercer that his vehicle pulled right and then “got wiggly”, causing him to lose control. Hester’s vehicle went back across both lanes and struck the 2014 Hyundai Elantra driven by Hannah Weeks, 30, of Hillsboro. After impact, Hester’s car flipped onto the roadside. The accident happened around 8:30 p.m.
Hester refused medical treatment but his passenger, Jason Dunn, 43, was injured so badly he couldn’t give a statement and he was taken by Monroe County EMS to Navicent Health.
Weeks was also injured and taken by Monroe County EMS to Navicent.
