Monroe County is getting ready to celebrate its 200th birthday, and such a big party needs a great logo.
That’s why the Monroe County Bicentennial Commission has kicked off its Bicentennial Logo contest with a — fittingly enough — $200 prize going to the winning artist. The prize is courtesy of Reporter columnist Don Daniel and the Bicentennial committee.
The deadline to enter the logo contest is Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.
Submit logos in electronic formats such as jpg or PDF to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before Jan. 20. Everyone is eligible except professional marketing company representatives.
Tentative plans call for Monroe County to celebrate its 200th birthday starting with various events in late 2020 leading up to a grand celebration on May 15, 2021. The Georgia legislature created Monroe County on May 21,1821.
The Bicentennial Commission is encouraging local organizations, businesses and churches to mark the occasion in any way they wish, and to please notify the Commission of those plans so that it can help promote and plan the big year. Locals are asked to send ideas, suggestions or volunteers by emailing to the Commission’s Gilda Stanbery at email@example.com or calling Stanbery at 478-974-1460.
