To the Editor:

I want to ask Don Daniel something since he knows about the newspaper business.

I’m very troubled about the movement to quench the free speech of the editor and proprietor of The Reporter. What’s more troubling is that it seems to be led by our education establishment! It’s like they don’t know anything about journalism! They don’t teach journalism in Monroe County Schools and they must not understand the 1st Amendment! When I was in school we actually had to compose the newspaper and go lay it out and print it! We had to sell subscriptions to be able to pay a local newspaper to use his press!

And yet Will gives the school system tons of space in his paper.

They seem to think the newspaper belongs to the community, as if it’s a public entity! So here is my question: Do all small town papers do that (provide a school newspaper)?
