Mary Persons football coach Brian Nelson said his coaching staff is full after adding new personnel.

Nelson has hired Demarcus Davis to replace Tevin Davis as the outside linebackers coach. Demarcus Davis will also teach at T.G. Scott Elementary. Demarcus Davis played on the line for Nelson before graduating in 2015. Tevin Davis followed former line coach Jamarcus Johnson to be the defensive coordinator at Rutland. Johnson is now the head coach at Rutland.

Meanwhile, Nelson has also hired former MP quarterback Caleb Speir to help coach quarterbacks as a community coach. Speir just graduated from LaGrange and is trying to decide which career to pursue, said Nelson.

Nelson has added another community coach in Art Toledo to help with running backs. Toledo was in Colorado where Nelson’s dad coaches but wants to get to the higher level of football played in Georgia, said Nelson. Toledo will replace the late long-time coach David Carey who died in January.

The other new staff member is Delvin Jordan who will coach wide receivers.
