The Mary Persons boys basketball team snapped a five-game losing skid with an 81-73 road region win at Perry on Friday.
The victory improved the Bulldogs to 11-7 overall (3-1 in Region 2-AAAA), which ties MP atop the region standings with four-time defending champion Upson-Lee.
In MP’s first clash with the Knights three days earlier, on Tuesday, the Bulldogs fell short 71-60 on the road. MP fell behind by 12 at 34-22 at halftime before Upson-Lee extended its lead to 17 at 56-39 through three quarters. Although MP outscored the Knights 21-15 in the fourth quarter, Upson-Lee prevailed by 11.
The Bulldogs were next scheduled to travel to Howard for a road region contest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. MP will then travel to Spalding for another road region game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will then play their seventh straight game away from home when they travel to face another region foe, West Laurens, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Meanwhile, the MP JV boys basketball team will next travel to Spalding for a road contest at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
Also, the MP 9th Grade boys basketball team will next play at Upson-Lee at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The 9th Grade Bulldogs will then host Veterans at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
In addition, the Monroe County Middle School boys basketball team will next host Pike County Middle at 6 p.m. on Thursday in its regular season home finale. The C-Team Bulldogs will then head back on the road to take on Clifton Ridge at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
