The Mary Persons wrestling season came to an end on Friday after no MP wrestlers advanced into the state traditionals finals by placing in the top eight at the state AAAA B sectionals in Perry.

In the 106-pound division, MP freshman Michael Whitfield, who finished the season with a 17-30 record, lost his opening match to Woodward Academy’s Colby McBride. Whitfield was then eliminated when he dropped his second match to Turner County’s Camden Roberts.

In the 126-pound division, MP junior Tyler Norsworthy, who finished the season with a 23-17 record, lost his opening match to Flowery Branch’s Jarrett Greene. Norsworthy was then eliminated when he dropped his second match to North Clayton’s Dwanta Thomas.

In the 132-pound division, MP sophomore Charley Ryles, who finished the season with a 25-19 record, lost his opening match to White County’s Sean Wurtz. Ryles then rebounded to defeat Salem’s Anthony Daley in his second match before losing his third match to Hampton’s Jadyn Tallman. Ryles was then eliminated with a loss in his fourth match to Eastside’s Zach Cason.

In the 138-pound division, MP junior Kent Mantle lost his opening match to Woodward Academys Michael Kilic. Mantle was then eliminated when he dropped his second match to Blessed Trinity’s Austin Crispo.

In the 145-pound division, MP sophomore Elijah Shannon, who finished the season with a 17-13 record, lost his opening match to Marist’s Carson Hess. Shannon was then eliminated when he dropped his second match to Troup County’s Kullum Irvin.

In the 152-pound division, MP sophomore Kamron Ward, who finished the season with a 35-14 record, lost his opening match to Cedartown’s Chris Davis. Ward then rebounded to defeat White County’s Jacob Holbrook in his second match before losing his third match to Luella’s Hunter Hensley. Ward was then eliminated with a loss in his fourth match to Eastside’s Keiron Payne-Cooper.

In the 160-pound division, MP junior Cole Padgett, who finished the season with a 25-15 record, lost his opening match to Blessed Trinity’s Nick Anderson. Padgett was then eliminated when he dropped his second match to Hampton’s Michael Bailey.
