Two Monroe County boys had a pair of touchdowns to lead First Presbyterian Day (5-2) over Mt. de Sales (3-4) 33-14 on Friday at FPD.
Senior wide receiver Jackson Moore of Monroe County had a huge game with 5 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Griffin Green, also of Monroe County, added two scores as well, one on the ground and one through the air as the Vikings won their third straight. The win put FPD in position to win back-to-back region titles for the first time since 2007.
Sophomore quarterback Jakhari Williams got the scoring started running in from four yards out early in the first quarter. The PAT was missed and the Vikings led 6-0.
On FPD’s next possession Williams hit a short pitch pass to Green who went down the right sideline 40 yards to score. FPD led 13-0 with 6:03 left in the first quarter.
The Vikings were not done in an explosive first quarter. Then Williams found a streaking Moore for a 56-yard touchdown as the first quarter expired. FPD led 20-0 after just 12 minutes.
The Cavaliers would add a score in the second quarter and it was 20-7 at the break.
But FPD extended its lead in the third quarter when Green scored from 9 yards out to make it 26-7. Green finished the night with 16 carries for 59 yards and 1 score on the ground and 1 in the air.
Later Williams found Moore again on a 26-yard touchdown pass and the Vikings led 33-7 with 4:08 left in the third quarter. Williams finished the night 11 of 13 passing for 273 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, senior linebacker Coleman Cauley of Monroe County led again with 11 tackles and also had a fumble recovery. Senior Micah Hencely of Monroe County was second with 8 tackles.
The Vikings host Deerfield-Windsor (3-4) this Friday for homecoming at 7:30 p.m.
