Annie was born Jan. 27, 1953 in Columbus, the daughter of Z. Lamon and Eunice Avant.  She was raised in Columbus and Cataula, Ga. and educated in both Muscogee County and Harris County school systems.  She married in 1969 and had one child, a son William Edward “Willie” Youngblood. She passed on Sept. 10, 2021.

She was an accomplished female Police Officer in the Macon Police Department for many years until a line-of-duty injury required medical retirement.  She was the first female to graduate at the top of her class among a large group of male officers.  She was highly regarded by her peers and superiors alike.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three Brothers, Coley T. Avant, Robert Joseph “Bob” Avant and William Lewis “Bill” Avant.  She is survived by her husband, Benny Channell, Son William Edward “Willie” Youngblood (Cyndi), three grandchildren Ben, Gina and Brandon Youngblood and 2 great grandchildren (Conroe, Texas), a Sister Annette Clark of Cataula, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.  

In lieu of a funeral service her remains were cremated.
