This past weekend, the Mary Persons competition cheerleading team headed to Morgan County to compete at their regional competition. Having performed their best routine of the season, Mary Persons came out on top in Region 2 of the 3A division.
Their routine started off with two perfectly timed fulls executed by Kinzee Wheeler and Kenley Morris. The team then transitioned into one-man stunts and all five stunts were executed close to perfect. The elite stunts were top notch with Olivia Elder, Emma Fox and Riley Hill impressing the judges. The pyramid hit with great execution and was like the cherry on top of an outstanding routine.
Because Mary Persons’ scores were in the top 16 of scores earned at the 3A regional competitions held across the state, they will advance to the state competition this Friday, November 11th. This year’s state competition will be held at the Macon Centreplex. Both 3A and 6A teams will be competing in the 2:00 session. This will be the third year that the state competition has been held at the Macon Centreplex.
Mary Persons will compete in the second session, which begins at 3:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from GoFan for $15 each. The doors open at 2:00 p.m. and once the competition begins at 3:00, Mary Persons will be the 19th team to perform in the second session on Friday.
Be sure to wear black to support the team and be ready to cheer loudly. The team began preparing for this important event back in July and now is the time for the team to give it their all and execute a perfect routine.
